The Los Angeles Chargers had an extremely disappointing 2019 season. After being one of the better teams in 2018 and making it into the playoffs, Los Angeles went just 5-11 and finished in last place in the AFC West.

Due to the terrible turnaround, a lot of moves will likely be made this offseason.

They've already started to make things happen. Things such as moving on from long time quarterback Philip Rivers.

Those moves could start to leak into the Chargers' coaching staff soon. However, it appears it won't be happening to offensive coordinator Shane Steichen, according to Ian Rapoport of NFL Network.

The Chargers put Steichen in place last year. He replaced Ken Whisenhunt in that spot. While he certainly wasn't fantastic, he had some marked improvements.

That's a positive sign for Los Angeles and clearly the direction they want to head in.

It also makes sense that they retain Steichen simply due to the situation he was put in last year. Steichen was given a product that wasn't working with Whisenhunt. So expecting him to be perfect would not have been fair.

Steichen is also just 34 years old. The Chargers hope they can groom the coach. If done properly, he could be around for a very long time, and possibly even find his way to a head coach spot soon.

Remember, this is a new NFL. Sean McVay's success with the Los Angeles Rams has peaked the interest of a lot of teams. Can they find the new young up-and-coming star coach?

It seems the Chargers want to give Steichen a longer look, and see if maybe he can be that star.
