Los Angeles Chargers cornerback Desmond King is coming off a stellar 2018 NFL season. It appears he is not ready to settle on his merits just yet.

King established himself as one of the premier nickel's in the league last season. According to ESPN's Eric Williams, he is working to become more versatile this offseason:

Chargers defensive back Desmond King, primarily the team's nickel defender, said he's been working on playing cornerback outside to add versatility.

King's ability to defend the pass and the run have made him an integral part of the Chargers' defense moving forward.

It is safe to say that he has become quite the steal for Los Angeles after he was take in the fifth round of the 2017 NFL Draft. Although 20 cornerbacks had come off the board before his selection, very few has made the kind of immediate impact King has thus far.

It is encouraging to see that the 24-year-old is still looking for ways to improve. This comes just after he finished the 2018 campaign with 62 tackles, three interceptions, and two fumble recoveries en route to first-team All-Pro honors.

He also emerged as the Chargers' primary return man on special teams. He returned 23 punts for 318 yards and a touchdown to go with 22 kick returns for 522 yards.

Los Angeles has managed to fortify their secondary with some elite talent through the draft in recent years. Their approach has finally started to come to fruition with players like King, Derwin James, and now Nassir Adderley.

It will be interesting to see how much this group improves moving forward.
