Los Angeles Chargers running back Melvin Gordon made it clear before training camp that he wanted a contract extension, or he would be requesting a trade. It appears that he hasn't gotten the offer he likes from the Chargers for an extension, so he has now asked to be traded.

According to Josina Anderson of ESPN, Gordon's agent Damarius Bilbo requested a trade last week after the team wouldn't improve on their initial offer of right around $10 million a year.

Chargers general manager Tom Telesco told Bilbo that Gordon was still part of the teams family and he would not be getting permission to seek out a trade partner.

Gordon is entering the final year of his rookie deal which is set to pay the former first-round pick $5.6 million.

Gordon isn't the only player that is currently holding out for a new deal. Dallas Cowboys running back Ezekiel Elliott has also not been around his teams camp as he looks for some long term security.

It's unclear exactly how much money Gordon is looking for, but something around the deal Todd Gurley signed last year with the Los Angeles Rams would seem like a logical starting point.

Bilbo is also the agent for Jarvis Landry and last year was able to convince the Miami Dolphins to trade him to the Cleveland Browns. Landry received the franchise tag from the Dolphins and then moved. Bilbo and Gordon are hoping that they can work some magic again this year and get the Chargers to trade away their star running back.
