Los Angeles Chargers quarterback Philip Rivers did not exactly have a shining moment during his team's loss to the Kansas City Chiefs on Monday night, as he threw four interceptions.
Turnovers have become a rather alarming trend for Rivers throughout the season, as he has now thrown 14 picks overall, and the veteran admits that it needs to stop.
“It's a football game,” said Rivers, according to Eric D. Williams of ESPN.com. “If you could just pick and choose and never throw [interceptions] ever, I'd choose to throw zero. So I certainly don't want to throw them, but I know it's hurting us right now. So obviously I need to cut them out.”
Half of the interceptions Rivers has thrown in 2019 have come over the last two weeks, resulting in a pair of losses that have almost certainly ended any hope the Chargers had of making the playoffs.
But Rivers isn't ready to give up just yet.

We've been in this spot before, and you just keep playing. You never know what can happen, but whether that happens or not, you just keep fighting.”
In addition to his 14 picks, the 37-year-old has thrown for 3,169 yards and 15 touchdowns while completing 64.4 percent of his passes and posting a passer rating of 85.5 this season.
Rivers has made three straight Pro Bowl appearances, but that streak will almost certainly come to an end this year.
Los Angeles is now just 4-7 in what has been a thoroughly disappointing 2019 campaign.
