The Los Angeles Chargers have made a flurry of moves this offseason to upgrade their roster. The Chargers were eliminated in the final game of the regular season to the Las Vegas Raiders.

Los Angeles has a great core and will be able to compete for a Super Bowl this season. Quarterback Justin Herbert has emerged as a star in his first two seasons in the league. With a talented roster around him, Herbert could get his first taste of the playoffs.

The Chargers have built a well-rounded roster with stars on both sides of the ball. One of their big moves this offseason was acquiring star pass rusher, Khalil Mack from the Chicago Bears. Mack will create a potent pass rush duo with star Joey Bosa.

They also added one of the best corners in football in J.C. Jackson, via free agency. While the Chargers are in the toughest division in the NFL, they should have a great season ahead.

With that said, here is the key position group for the Chargers in the 2022 NFL season.

Chargers Key Position Group For 2022 NFL Season

Wide Receiver

Los Angeles should have a great defense but will need their offense to be explosive again. The receiver duo of Keenan Allen and Mike Williams needs to play at an elite level for the Chargers to make a run.

In the AFC West, the Chargers will face other explosive offenses with the Kansas City Chiefs, Denver Broncos, and the Las Vegas Raiders.

While the defense will be crucial in slowing down these teams, keeping up will be just as important.

Williams had a career year last season, finishing with 76 receptions for 1,146 yards and nine touchdowns. He is a big physical receiver that can make plays down the field. With Herbert's arm strength, the two can connect for plays that can change the game, making the offense explosive.

However, Williams can be inconsistent at times, which can lead to poor offensive performances for the Chargers. If LA can get consistent play out of him, the passing attack will be hard for defenses to contain.

The proven star receiver for Los Angeles is Allen. Allen is one of the best route runners in the league and is a consistent target for the offense. Last season, he caught 106 passes for 1,138 yards and six touchdowns. Although Allen is not an elite red-zone threat, he is great at coming up with first downs.

His route-running creates an easy target for Herbert to rely on. This upcoming season, the Chargers just need Allen to continue being a dominant receiver.

While Williams and Allen are a dynamic receiver combo, LA will need others to step up. Los Angeles will be relying on Josh Palmer and Jalen Guyton to contribute in the passing game. Palmer and Guyton haven't solidified themselves as reliable receivers but have both shown flashes of being solid.

If one of them can emerge as a trustworthy wide receiver three, the offense will be a phenomenal unit.

The Chargers have not won a Super Bowl in their franchise history but have the talent to get it done this year. However, it won't be easy as the league is filled with talented teams. There are some young teams on the rise, as well as established contenders.

The production from the receiving core will be crucial to the Chargers having success in the 2022 season.
