From bing bong to ka-ching, ka-ching. As in the past years, many sports fans in New York eagerly awaited Super Bowl LVI between the Los Angeles Rams and Cincinnati Bengals. Since the New York Jets advancing to the title game is as possible as the Statue of Liberty coming to life, people from the Big Apple made things extra interesting for themselves by betting on the Rams and Bengals.

And boy, did they put their money on the line. According to New York Post's Ariel Zilber, New Yorkers wagered a whopping total of more than $470 million for Super Bowl LVI. From a deeply economic perspective, that's 159,322,033 Grey's Papaya hotdogs.

The state saw a windfall of wagers on mobile sports betting apps as residents gambled $472.1 million in the run-up to the big game, according to the New York State Gaming Commission.

The week leading up to the contest proved to be one of the most lucrative since New York approved legalized online sports betting on January 8.
