The Los Angeles Rams have enjoyed quite the offseason thus far. However, the only thing that has prevented them from putting on the finishing touch has been the absence of defensive tackle Aaron Donald.

Donald and the Rams have been deadlocked in contract negotiations for some time now. The reigning Defensive Player of the Year recently put out a cryptic post on Twitter that has left fans wondering what could be next:

Donald's tweet could mean a lot of things. An optimistic hypothesis would assume that perhaps the two sides could be close to reaching a long-term deal. However, a realist would conclude that he could be trying to send a message to the front office that their time is running out.

Donald is hardly as savvy on social media as some of his teammates are. His timeline is mostly filled with videos of the vigorous training he endures. That said, for Donald to go out of his way to post such a subtle message must mean something.

There has been plenty of speculation regarding the details of his potential deal. Some are convinced that making Donald the highest-paid defensive player in the NFL and building a championship-caliber team have become mutually exclusive. However, that does not seem to be the case otherwise the Rams would not have committed so many resources to maintain the roster immediately.

Regardless, it is clear that negotiations have not gone as planned. If one thing that is for certain, it is that the patience is wearing thin on all sides.
