Jalen Ramsey has had a multitude of stout coverage matchups in his third season with the Los Angeles Rams. Now, he is set for another arduous test in Super Bowl 56 against Cincinnati Bengals wideout Ja’Marr Chase.

Not many defensive backs have had much of an answer for Chase in his rookie season, especially with his speed in the open field. Ramsey sees that there is one way to contain Chase in such in-game situations, which he kept it short and simple during a recent press conference.

“Tackling,” Ramsey said during a recent press conference. “Got to tackle well, that’s how you limit yards after the catch.”

In just his first year in the NFL, Chase has already garnered the respect of the All-Pro cornerback.

“I respect him, I think he’s a good receiver,” Ramsey said. “I was a fan of his game when he was at LSU, I thought he was a baller. I thought he’s done well and what he’s done this year, he’s been balling and making history for that franchise. It’s a big game for him in year one, but it is what it is. I am who I am as well.”

As has been the case over the Rams’ playoff run so far, Ramsey may not go on to cover the Bengals’ top receiving option in Chase for the entirety of next week's pivotal game. Rams defensive coordinator Raheem Morris has also called upon Ramsey to take on coverage matchups in the slot over the campaign.

Overall, Ramsey has so far allowed a 47.4 percent completion percentage and an 86.1 passer rating while in coverage over the playoffs. The Rams may need the veteran cornerback to post the most prolific showing of his run with the team so far if they aspire to celebrate a second Super Bowl win in franchise history next week.
