Los Angeles Rams running back Todd Gurley has not been shy about expressing his lack of interest regarding playing in the preseason. It appears he is not the only one on the team who feels that way. The other notable preseason holdout in Los Angeles is quarterback Jared Goff.

According to Cameron DaSilva of the Rams Wire, Goff is fine saving all wear and tear for the 2018 NFL season:

“No, I’ll get hit plenty this year. I’ll get adjusted to it eventually,” Goff said Thursday.

Goff's absence from the preseason has come with some mixed reviews. There are some pundits that feel it is essential for players to shake the rust off with a little live-game action in the preseason. Of course, taking a few hits is always a part of the process. It is clear that Goff would rather save them for the regular season.

Fortunately, he has shown in the past that he is capable of taking some abuse. Goff was among the most pressured quarterbacks in the league during his rookie campaign behind a makeshift offensive line. Those were dark times for both him and the Rams.

However, that all changed with the arrival of head coach Sean McVay, whose first order of business was solidifying Goff's protection up front.

Despite the rejuvenated offensive line, there is no denying that Goff will still take his fair share of hits this season. Regardless, it appears the former #1 overall pick is more concerned with getting the offense to click on all cylinders than he is about testing his durability before the games count.
