With a win in Week 17 against the Arizona Cardinals, the Los Angeles Rams, Sean McVay, and Jared Goff have secured their spot in the NFC Playoffs and will face their division rivals, the Seattle Seahawks.
The Rams split the season series against the Seahawks this season but will be entering their playoff matchup with a big question mark at quarterback.
The Rams got the Week 17 win with an ex-XFL quarterback, John Wolford. Wolford was just good enough in Week 17 to beat the Arizona Cardinals, 18-7. He went 22/38 for 231 yards and one interception, as well as 56 yards rushing.
Jared Goff was not available to play for the Rams in Week 17 with a thumb injury in which he got surgery on and is currently recovering. His status for wild card weekend is still questionable.
Although Jared Goff has been very inconsistent this season, the Rams would still have a better chance in the playoffs if they decide to go with their0 starter.
Head coach Sean McVay, was asked about Goff's availability post-game, and he said that he isn't sure if Goff will be able to go next weekend for the Rams. When asked about Wolford starting, McVay said, ‘Well, we will talk about that'.
McVay is most likely just trying to keep the Seahawks on their toes for next week, but the possibility of starting Wolford in a playoff game is very real. Goff has been a below-average quarterback this season, and has only a 1.18 TD-to-turnover ratio. Not what you want to see from your starting quarterback with the Rams.
Regardless of who they decide to go with next week, the Rams will have their hands full with the Seahawks. It will be the rubber match in what will become a three-game season series. The Rams won the first meeting, 23-16, and the Seahawks won the second clash, 20-9. The teams both won at home.
