The Los Angeles Rams and New England Patriots just produced what most fans would consider to be a majorly underwhelming first half of football — especially for a Super Bowl. Not only that, but the Rams and Patriots strung together a historic first half and not in a good way as the tandem of the typically high-powered offenses tallied the second-lowest scoring first half in Super Bowl history, according to ESPN Stats and Info.
The only Super Bowl that produced a lower score at the halftime intermission was Super Bowl IX between the Pittsburgh Steelers and Minnesota Vikings, with the former leading the latter 2-0 through two quarters.
This is the 2nd-lowest scoring 1st half in Super Bowl history.
The Steelers led the Vikings 2-0 at half in Super Bowl IX.

Leading to a dismal first half of football, both teams struggled mightily on offense with both Patriots quarterback Tom Brady and Rams quarterback Jared Goff at the forefront. With Goff beginning the game with three incompletions and a sack on third down, Brady started the game with an unlikely interception. As a whole, the Rams became the first team to punt on their first four possessions of a Super Bowl since the Patriots did so in Super Bowl XXXIX against the Philadelphia Eagles back in 2004-2005.
On the other hand, this is now the ninth Super Bowl that was held scoreless in the first quarter. Ironically enough, the heralded Patriots have been involved in five of these instances while winning the previous four.
Down 3-0 to the Patriots at the half, the Rams will now receive the second half kickoff with hopes of turning things around in a hurry.
