Miami Dolphins wide receiver DeVante Parker’s future with the team has been wrapped in uncertainty over the past few weeks. He’s been linked with a potential deal ahead of next week’s trade deadline. His agent also made some controversial comments about Adam Gase after Parker was made inactive last week.

But with both Albert Wilson and Kenny Stills unavailable, Parker got the chance to play against the Houston Texans on Thursday night, and he made the most of his opportunity. Parker had six catches for 134 yards, which is easily a new career-high.

After the game, Parker wanted everyone to know that his belief in himself hasn’t wavered despite how his career has gone thus far.

“I already know who I am as a player,” Parker said per Adam H. Beasley of the Miami Herald. “I’ve still got the talent.”

Parker, the No. 14 overall pick in the 2015 draft, hasn’t panned out the way the Dolphins had hoped. Despite showing flashes of his potential, he’s simply failed to provide the consistent production expected of him over the first three-plus years of his career.

Parker’s performance on Thursday night showcased the tremendous talent that made Miami take him so high in the draft. It remains to be seen if it will have any bearing on his future with the team. Perhaps it helped bump his trade value a little higher. With next week’s trade deadline just around the corner, the wait to find out what the Dolphins ultimately decide won’t be that much longer.
