The Miami Dolphins boast some serious talent in the backfield with Kenyan Drake and Frank Gore. In fact, it appears they still haven't determined a clear-cut starter.

Teams around the league have gotten a more vivid picture of their pecking order going into the 2018 NFL season. However, the Dolphins' depth chart featured both Drake and Gore as the starting running backs by placing “Or” between their names, via Adam Beasley of the Miami Herald:

Although Drake's name is listed first, Miami clearly emphasized where current position battles are taking place. Needless to say, it seems Gore has given his younger teammate a run for his money.

Drake's inability to become the clear-cut starter may be a cause for concern for some. The departure of former Dolphins running back Jay Ajayi cleared the way for Drake to take on an increased workload before emerging as the team's workhorse down the final stretch of the 2017 campaign. The former third-round pick finished the year with 644 yards and three touchdowns on 133 carries while tacking on 32 receptions for 239 yards and a touchdown. His versatile skill set as both a runner and receiver indicated that he could potentially become their every-down back. However, it seems the Dolphins are hoping to establish a 1-2 punch of their own.

Gore is coming off a solid year of his own after nearly rushing for his tenth 1,000-yard campaign in his third season as a member of the Indianapolis Colts. It appears the veteran still has some fuel left in the tank going into his 14th season. Although Drake may cede touches to Gore, it would not make much sense for them to split the workload evenly given the latter's one-year deal in Miami.
