The Miami Dolphins have agreed to a one-year deal with wide receiver Ricardo Louis, according to Ian Rapoport of NFL Network.

Louis spent the 2018 campaign with the Cleveland Browns but did not play in a single game, as he missed the entire season due to a neck injury. He was waived by the Browns last week.

Louis, who played his collegiate football at Auburn University, was originally selected by Cleveland in the fourth round (114th pick overall) of the 2016 NFL Draft.

The 25-year-old played in all 16 games during his rookie year, catching 18 passes for 205 yards. He then appeared in all 16 contests during his second season, hauling in 27 receptions for 357 yards.

He had a rather modest collegiate career, and during his senior campaign at Auburn, he snared 46 balls for 716 yards and three touchdowns, by far his most productive season with the Tigers.

Louis arrived at Auburn back in 2012 but barely played during his freshman year, logging three catches for 36 yards. The following year, he earned more significant playing time, registering 28 receptions for 325 yards and a couple of scores. He then finished with 21 catches for 261 yards while reaching the end zone three times during his junior campaign.

The Dolphins are coming off of a 2018 season in which they won just seven games and missed the playoffs. Miami has made the postseason just once since 2009 and going back even further; the Dolphins have made only two playoff appearances since 2002.

Miami, which has been one of the least successful franchises in the NFL over the better part of the last two decades, has also not won a playoff game since the 2000-01 campaign.
