It goes without saying that the Miami Dolphins were plagued by the lackluster player under center throughout the 2017 NFL season. As a result, they could be looking to add some more depth to the quarterback position.

There is a bevy of quality quarterback prospects in this year's 2018 NFL Draft. Unfortunately, Miami is aware that they may be gone by the time they make their 11th pick in the draft, according to Armando Salguero of the Miami Herald:

I’ve been told by multiple people within the organization they hope they get the chance to draft a quarterback in the first round, but believe Sam Darnold, Josh Rosen, Josh Allen and Baker Mayfield will all be gone when Miami picks at No. 11 overall.

There is plenty of truth to the rumors. This year's draft is expected to be one of the more quarterback-heavy affairs in recent years. However, there are a number of teams in the top-10 that are pegged to take quarterbacks in the first round.

Among the most notable prospects are USC's Sam Darnold, UCLA's Josh Rosen, Wyoming's Josh Allen, and Oklahoma's Baker Mayfield. At the same time, teams like the Cleveland Browns, New York Jets and Denver Broncos are all looking to potentially add some depth under center. If Miami is to acquire any of the four, they may have to consider giving up some assets to move up in the draft.

Needless to say, the verdict is still out on quarterback Ryan Tannehill moving forward as he has done little to legitimize his franchise status up to this point. That said, the Dolphins would be remiss if they were to miss out on this year's prospects if Tannehill does not pan out.
