The Miami Dolphins have recently lost two pieces in their offensive rotation during the recent player opt-outs. This left them severely shorthanded in its wideout room. With big holes to fill, the team opted to give an opportunity to former Indianapolis Colts pass-catcher Chester Rogers.

ESPN Senior NFL insider Adam Schefter tweeted about the Dolphins' latest acquisition:

Rogers played college football at Grambling State University and signed with the Colts as an undrafted free agent in 2016. He was a four-year Indianapolis Colt from 2016-2019. He also amassed career numbers of 1,221 receiving yards on 111 receptions and scored 5 total touchdowns thus far.

Last season, Rogers was named the fourth wide receiver on the Colts' depth chart. He suffered a knee fracture in Week 13 and was placed on injured reserve on December 2, 2019. He finished the season with 16 catches for 179 yards and two touchdowns through 12 games and six starts.

After playing for a rebuilding Indianapolis Colts which went 7-9 last season, Rogers will be in a similar situation yet again. This time around, he will be contributing to a Miami Dolphins side which tallied a 5-11 overall record in 2019.

He will be entering a young wideout group in Miami which includes WR1 DeVante Parker, veteran Jakeem Grant, fourth-year player Isaiah Ford, and sophomores Preston Williams and Gary Jennings, among others.

He hopes to take advantage of the undermanned offense in order to have a bigger role produce better numbers for the team. The Fins will open their 2020 campaign as they visit their division rival New England Patriots on September 13 at Foxborough.
