The Miami Dolphins finished third in the AFC East, just missing out on the playoffs in 2021. Miami owner Stephen Ross has clearly decided they are going all in this year in trying to reach the postseason. They made as many major offseason acquisitions as just about any team in the NFL. The biggest move of which was trading for All-Pro wide receiver Tyreek Hill.
The moves have Dolphins quarterback Tua Tagovailoa eager to get to work, as Miami Herald writer Barry Jackson noted.
The Dolphins quarterback joined “The Fish Talk” podcast to talk about the offseason, the pressure he is facing and his new head coach Mike McDaniel.
“I think pressure is everywhere, especially in any professional industry… You’re either going to make use of this opportunity with the guys we have or you’re not. That’s what it is. I’m looking forward to making use of this opportunity,” Tagovailoa said. “I guess the only word that can describe that is exciting… It’s exciting times for all of us. Aside from guys we have acquired, it’s going to take work from all of us. We’ve got to do the most important thing why we’re here, which is just win games.”
On top of the Tyreek Hill trade, the Dolphins also acquired running backs Chase Edmonds from Arizona and Raheem Mostert from San Francisco. Edmonds is extremely quick and a great pass-catching back. Mostert is more of a downhill rusher who once was the NFC Championship game here for the 49ers, rushing for four touchdowns.
Miami also brought in Terron Armstead, Alec Ingold and Conner Williams to help shore up the lines. This might be the most talented Dolphins team in a couple of generations. This will be a prove-it-to-me season for Tagovailoa.
