Entering this offseason, the Miami Dolphins have a clear-cut answer under center with veteran quarterback Ryan Tannehill set to make his return from torn ACL that cost him his entire 2017 campaign. The team has continued to voice confidence in Tannehill being able to return to form and take the next step.
However, there has been a recent push within the organization to consider the possibility of selecting a quarterback in this year's draft. According to Peter King of Monday Morning Quarterback, the Dolphins are reportedly leaning toward taking a quarterback in the first round with that interest directed toward Oklahoma's Baker Mayfield.
There has been a brewing connection between the two sides that began with Mayfield's subtle comments a few months ago directed at possibly joining Miami. Since then, the Dolphins have continued to keep track of the 22-year-old. The team is reportedly impressed with how he interviewed at the Senior Bowl.

He capped it off with a strong senior campaign where he earned the Heisman Trophy award after leading the nation’s most productive offense while completing 71 percent of his passes for 4,340 yards and 41 touchdown passes.
Although there are questions about his height and behavior, Mayfield has shown to possess great potential on the field that is an accurate thrower and an effective passer down the field and on the move.
Miami currently possesses the 11th overall pick in this year's draft that could put them in the position to snag him at that spot. This should likely make the organization a team in strong play to become Mayfield's landing spot early in the first round.
