Washington Redskins running back Adrian Peterson is currently dealing with an ankle injury, but he does not think the issue will keep him out of his team's game against his former Minnesota Vikings club on Thursday night.

Peterson told Tom Pelissero of NFL Network that his ankle is “night and day” from where it was on Monday and that he should be “good to go” for the Redskins' Week 8 matchup.

The 34-year-old initially sustained the injury during the third quarter of Washington's loss to the San Francisco 49ers this past Sunday.

On the season, Peterson has rushed for 307 yards and a touchdown while averaging a meager 3.7 yards per carry, but he has picked up his level of play as of late, as he carried the ball 20 times for 81 yards against the 49ers, and during the Redskins' Week 6 win over the Miami Dolphins, he totaled 118 yards off of 23 attempts.

Peterson originally joined Washington in August 2018 and went on to have a Renaissance season in his first year with the squad, totaling 1,042 yards and seven scores while registering 4.2 yards per attempt.

His solid production led to a two-year extension with the Redskins during the offseason.

Still, Peterson remains a mere shell of the player he once was during his first 10 NFL seasons with the Vikings, a stretch in which he earned seven Pro Bowl appearances and three First-Team All-Pro selections while leading the league in rushing three times.

His best season came back in 2012, when he racked up 2,097 yards and 12 touchdowns, posting six yards per carry.
