Pro Football Focus is not exactly well-respected in NFL circles. Players typically hate it, and most coaches are not exactly a fan of it. Take Minnesota Vikings head coach Mike Zimmer, for example.

Zimmer couldn't help but contain his excitement (sarcastically, of course) on Monday when told by a reporter that Pro Football Focus had Eric Kendricks ranked as the NFL's second-best linebacker thus far this season:

On the season, Kendricks has registered 49 tackles, a half of a sack, a forced fumble and seven passes defended, so he has been really good, but yeah; Zimmer is not going to care.

Kendricks, who played his collegiate football at UCLA, was originally selected by the Vikings in the second round (45th pick overall) of the 2015 NFL Draft.

He had an impressive rookie campaign, posting 92 tackles and four sacks. He followed that up with an even better sophomore season, tallying 109 tackles, 2.5 sacks, an interception, a forced fumble, a fumble recovery, nine passes defended and a defensive touchdown.

Eric Kendricks went on to post very similar numbers in 2017 and 2018, most recently recording 108 tackles, a sack, a couple of picks, a forced fumble, a fumble recovery, and seven passes defended in the latter year.

The 27-year-old is an important part of what has been a very good Vikings defense overall, as Minnesota ranks fifth in yards allowed and sixth in scoring defense.

The Vikings are coming off of an impressive 38-20 win over the Philadelphia Eagles, improving their record to 4-2 on the year.

Minnesota will now head on the road to battle the Detroit Lions next Sunday.
