Adam Thielen has helped lead the Minnesota Vikings to a 2-1 record so far in the 2019 NFL regular season, but has seen his production drop a bit compared to last year. After three games in 2018, Thielen had already tallied 32 catches for 338 yards, but so far, he’s at just 11 catches and 173 yards. According to him, however, that doesn’t matter much.

The reduced output “doesn’t matter to me, as long as we win,” Thielen told Pro Football Talk after the team’s 34-14 win over the Oakland Raiders. Thielen went on to say that he’ll continue to focus on doing all of the little things that go into winning, including focusing on his routes and trying to get open.

“It’s definitely not harder,” Thielen said regarding the team’s change in the focus from passing to running. “It’s just different.”

Of course, the switch to a more running oriented offense might just be what has the Vikings doing so well, as the team has been leaning on the incredibly talented young running back Dalvin Cook throughout their first three games.

With Kirk Cousins throwing less, that means less opportunities for both Thielen and Stefon Diggs. Still, Thielen was able to bring in three catches against the Raiders, scoring a 35-yard touchdown in the process and helping the team stay above .500. As long as the Vikings continue to win, it’s unlikely Thielen will argue much about the sudden lack in production, especially if it means getting back to the playoffs and a chance to compete for a Super Bowl title.
