The Minnesota Vikings have been on the verge of the playoffs the past few seasons. Being brutally close has put the team on high alert, as they will need to lean harder into the talent they have in order to get the most out of it. After signing Kirk Cousins to a contract extension, the team has rearranged its books even more.
According to Ben Gosseling of the Star Tribune, Adam Thielen had his contract restructured so that he could remain with the Vikings. His cap hit is excepted to be lowered next season and, per NFL Network's Tom Pelissero, he will have a void year tacked onto his deal, which goes through the 2025 season.
Thielen has been a fan favorite for his excellence and consistency as a pass-catcher. The 31-year-old shared a message with Vikings fans after the move to express his excitement with the team.

Thielen is one of the most important players in Minnesota's offense, recording 726 receiving yards on 67 catches, including 10 touchdowns, last season. With new head coach Kevin O'Connell coming over from the reigning champions, the Vikings should see an improved offensive output behind Cousins, Thielen and superstar wide receiver Justin Jefferson.
Doubling down on the same core that has left them just short of the postseason is a bold move for the Vikings, particularly the Cousins extension. With a new coach that has more familiarity working with high-powered, passing-attack-heavy offenses, they should be able to put the pieces together and compete for a playoff spot in a weakening NFC North.
