The Minnesota Vikings handed another contract extension to quarterback Kirk Cousins, which has left fans with mixed feelings. Of course, there's a number of Vikings fans who don't feel Cousins has what it takes to lead the team to a Super Bowl, while others are convinced he can guide the team to glory. Cousins has heard it all before, and after signing the new contract, he didn't hold back on the criticism cast upon him. Via Chris Thomasson, Cousins admitted there will be “detractors” when the Vikings fall short of their goals, but he's prepared for the noise.
#Vikings QB Kirk Cousins on KFAN Radio on if he hears criticism of him: "The fans are fans of the Minnesota Vikings and they don't want to see us go .500." Said there "will be detractors" when the Vikings fall short and he expects that.

Cousins understands the frustration from Vikings fans. No supporters want to see their team go .500 year in and year out, and that's basically been the case in Minnesota over the past few years. With Kevin O'Connell in at head coach, perhaps the Vikings will be able to get over the hump with Cousins at QB.
If they don't Cousins will likely shoulder most of the blame, something he's grown accustomed to during his tenure in Minnesota.
Cousins and the Vikings agreed to terms on a one-year extension that will pay the veteran quarterback $35 million. It's a move that pledges faith to Cousins with a huge pay check, while simultaneously keeping the Vikings flexible at the position in case things go south this year.
There are lofty expectations for Cousins in Minnesota, especially after his big-money extension, and he knows he'll be expected to live up to the hype throughout the 2022 NFL season.
