The quarterback situation across the league is as fluid as it has ever been and Minnesota Vikings quarterback Kirk Cousins doesn't seem to be going anywhere, according to head coach Mike Zimmer.

“Kirk's our guy,” Zimmer said Friday on NFL Network. “You know, he had a terrific year this year.”

Cousins' name was floating around trade circles, especially for the San Francisco 49ers due to his relationship with Niners head coach Kyle Shanahan, who worked with Cousins with Washington.

He spent six years with Washington before signing with the Vikings as a free agent, and his contract for 2022 becomes guaranteed on March 19.

Zimmer said the defense is what needed to be fixed and defended Cousins, who appear to be staying put in Minnesota. He finished 2020 with 4,265 yards and a career-high 35 touchdowns as they finished the year with a 7-9 record.

Rookie Justin Jefferson had a fantastic year, and veteran Adam Thielen gives Cousins one of the better-receiving groups in the NFL. Dalvin Cook remains one of the best backs in the league, and if Zimmer and company can fix the defense then the Vikings have a good shot at competing in the NFC North.

While a bunch of quarterbacks will be playing in different stadiums in 2021, including Matthew Stafford and Jared Goff who just got traded for each other, the Vikings have no issues with giving Cousins another couple of seasons in the Twin Cities as they hope to make another deep playoff run.
