The Minnesota Vikings have been on a four-game winning streak since starting the season with a 2-2 record. A key reason for their recent success has been the play of Kirk Cousins.

After the Vikings' 19-9 win over the Washington Redskins on Thursday Night Football, head coach Mike Zimmer highlighted the individual contributions that Cousins has provided by calling them ‘outstanding.'

“He’s playing outstanding right now,” Zimmer said, via the team's official Twitter account. “He’s been on a roll for the last four ball games and we’re hoping it continues to stay that way.”

During the first four games of the season, Cousins went 64-of-99 (65.7 percent) on his throws resulting in 735 passing yards, three touchdowns, and two interceptions. His performance was underwhelming at best and resulted in no shortage of criticism from experts.

While Cousins did not record a touchdown against the Redskins, he set a new Vikings franchise record for single-game completion percentage (88.5 percent) surpassing Brett Favre. He added 285 passing yards to go along with it.

The production that Cousins has provided over his last four games has been 1,262 passing yards, 10 passing touchdowns, and just one interception. Perhaps most impressive of all is the fact that he has completed 91 of his 113 pass attempts, translating to an 80.1 percent completion percentage.

The Vikings have just one more loss than the NFC North-leading Green Bay Packers. If Cousins can continue to perform at a high-level, Minnesota should have at least somewhat of a chance of taking the lead in their division.
