With COVID-19 still running rampant across the globe, NFL teams are working around the virus to continue playing football. However, the Minnesota Vikings have been hit hard recently, as one player was reported to go to the ER due to the virus.

According to Chase Goodbread, “more concerns over COVID-19 have struck the Minnesota Vikings this week, including a vaccinated player who was admitted to an emergency room Tuesday night.” This is not an ideal situation for Minnesota and hopefully, the hospitalized player returns to the team without any complications.

This is one of the more unique COVID-19 cases in the NFL right now. The Vikings currently have 29 people within the organization going under testing for being a close contact, one of which being head coach Mike Zimmer, per Chase Goodbread.

“Like 29 guys are getting tested because of close contact, including myself.” – Vikings coach Mike Zimmer.

With Minnesota's season on the line, the timing for this COVID-19 outbreak couldn't be any worse. The Vikings go up against a tough Los Angeles Chargers squad on Sunday and desperately need a win. This franchise has lost multiple close games, as they can't seem to finish their contests.

We'll see how this plays out. As mentioned previously, hopefully, the hospitalized player is okay and rejoins the team swiftly. As for the remaining roster, the Vikings are hoping for more negative tests than not. They could be heading to Los Angeles with a limited number of people on the roster and the coaching staff.

An undermanned team is the worst-case scenario for the Vikings right now. If they hope to get back into the playoff race, they'll need all hands on deck.
