Philadelphia Eagles tackle Lane Johnson has gotten his shots in at the New England Patriots this offseason. After beating them in the Super Bowl, Johnson then ripped the Pats for their apparent arrogance.

Patriots head coach Bill Belichick was asked about Johnson’s pointed comments against his team, but as usual, he didn’t really have too much to say in response.

“Yeah, we’re focused on what we’re doing, trying to get better and taking each day we can to try to improve our football team,” Belichick said per Mike Florio of Pro Football Talk. “Not really focused on what everybody else is doing.”

It shouldn’t be that much of a shock that Belichick wasn’t too affected by what Johnson had to say. Whatever methods Belichick has used to run his football team over the years have worked out just fine for him, and the thoughts of someone like Johnson were never going to make much of an impact on him.

Opponents may think whatever they want about Belichick the Patriots, but it’s clear that they aren’t going to change anytime soon. Others may not like it, but the Pats have earned to right to be arrogant after close to two decades of sustained excellence.

Those who share Johnson’s sentiments about the Patriots-and there are likely a lot of them-were probably glad the Eagles knocked them down a peg after beating them in the Super Bowl. But they’ll likely have to come to grips with the fact that Belichick and the Patriots will do what they do.
