Cordarrelle Patterson and the New England Patriots are fresh off of a huge 31-17 victory over Aaron Rodgers on the Green Bay Packers on Sunday night. It was a game that was highly anticipated and did not disappoint for the most part. New England was able to break the game open late, but that was not indicative of the game as a whole.
While the Patriots' offense is usually focused on Tom Brady, Rob Gronkowski, Julian Edelman, and a few other players, Patterson isn't a name that normally comes up. Against the Packers, he was a big reason why the team was able to pull out the win.
Normally utilized as a wide receiver, Patterson was asked to step up in the ground game. He carried the football 11 times for 61 yards and a touchdown.
Following the game, Patterson was asked about his role in the offense in an interview with WEEI.

Patterson also said that he enjoys playing in the backfield because there is more opportunity for touches and even wanted a more substantial role against the Packers.
“I said I wanted 25 carries this week, but I don’t know how many I had. I told them to give me 25, but I don’t think they gave me 25. Like I said, whenever my number’s called I’m being ready for whatever I need to do on the football field.”
Expect to see Patterson continue receiving a larger workload moving forward this season. He showed he is more than capable of handling a role as a running back and could do so moving forward.
