In the last several months of the offseason, the New England Patriots have undergone much change to their group of wide receivers that has seen several notable departures to the group.

This has pushed the notion that the Patriots are heading into the season with plenty of questions concerning the capability of their current crop of wideouts. Despite that, offensive coordinator Josh McDaniels has voiced no concern over what they can bring to the table this upcoming campaign, according to Karen Guergian of the Boston Herald.

“Each year’s different. I know that our responsibility is to take the group of guys in our room and maximize the strengths of the players we have, and we’ve got a lot of strengths,” McDaniels said about the thinned out receiving corps. “There’s guys in there in each position that do things well. I’ve said it a number of times before, when we get to the point where we’re playing a game, a regular-season game, our job is to take the group of guys we have, and the scheme we have available to us and try and beat the other team.”

New England has made several noteworthy moves concerning their group of wide receivers in the last few months that have seen the departure of Danny Amendola, Brandin Cooks, Malcolm Mitchell, and Kenny Britt. This has left the group to be led by Chris Hogan and Julian Edelman once he makes his return from a four-game suspension to begin the season due to violating the performance-enhancing drugs policy.

On top of that, Tom Brady has voiced that this group of wideouts can't necessarily do all the things that he has normally done in the past, which will lead to him having to adjust. It is an entirely different situation that Brady may have experienced before of having to play with this quality of wide receivers.

Only time will tell if this crop of wideouts can be enough to help the Patriots push through to another deep playoff run toward a contending for the Super Bowl.
