It's rarely the story of the positive variety that receives the attention. Negative tragedies trump the headlines and as Americans, we're so used to it by now it's become extremely unsettling.

Today, positive actions leading to a non-tragedy wins the day.

New England Patriots wide receiver Julian Edelman may have prevented an American tragedy—another school shooting.

A 14-year-old boy in Port Huron, Michigan, has been taken into custody for posting a comment on Edelman's Instagram account. He threatened a school shooting in the comment.

Edelman received a direct message from a follower about the comment which prompted the Pats weapon into action. The unsettling comment was, “I'm going to shoot my school up watch the news.”

Brady's favorite target asked the woman who DM'd him to call 911.

“With the emotions of what happened, and I have a kid now, I said, holy Toledo, what is going on?” Edelman told Ken Belson of the New York Times.

Julian Edelman

Simply amazing.

Of course, the recent rash of shootings in this countries—especially via schools dealing with young children—couldn't possibly be put into any words or descriptions.

Thankfully, Edelman—a public figure who doesn't ignore every message that comes at him via social media (like the majority do, and for understandable reasons—took action. If he hadn't, who knows what may have happened.

The young man remains in custody with an upcoming hearing scheduled.
