Wide receiver Kenny Britt may have to wait for a little longer before he sees action on the field, as the New England Patriots’ training camp will kick off with him on the PUP (Physically unable to perform) list.

This is according to Tom Pelissero of NFL.com, who also said that Britt is on pace to fully recuperate from a hamstring issue just in time to get back into physical activities next week.

Meanwhile, #Patriots WR Kenny Britt will start camp on the PUP list, source said, but the hamstring he tweaked in minicamp isn't expected to keep him out long. Should be back next week. He has impressed in the offseason.

Britt is hoping that he will be able to rebound in Foxborough from a disappointing stint with the Cleveland Browns last season. Britt struggled with injuries and appeared in just nine games for the Browns, collecting just 18 receptions, 233 receiving yards, and two touchdowns. He then appeared in just three games after coming to the Pats later in the year.

New England presents Britt a stable environment and a winning culture that he definitely would not be able to find in Cleveland no matter how hard he looked.

Prior to his stint with the Browns, Britt recorded career-highs of 1,002 receiving yards and 111 receptions and converted them into five touchdowns in 2016 with the Los Angeles Rams. That’s the kind of form the Pats are hoping to get from Britt after signing the 29-year-old wideout to a two-year deal worth $2.4 million last December.

He will not be without competition this offseason, however, for the No. 3 wide receiver role in New England with the likes of Jordan Matthews, Phillip Dorsett, Malcolm Mitchell and Cordarrelle Patterson all vying for snaps.
