The New England Patriots selected wide receiver N'Keal Harry in the first-round (32nd overall) of the 2019 NFL Draft.

Adding him to a group that features Julian Edelman, Demaryius Thomas and Josh Gordon seemed almost unfair. However, Bill Belichick once again got his man.

That being said, it looks like the Patriots will have to wait and see what Harry can bring to the table in an actual NFL regular-season game. According to Mike Reiss of ESPN.com, it's fair to wonder if he'll be ready for the start of the year.

“Preparations for the Sept. 8 season opener against the Steelers now intensify, and it seems fair to wonder if first-round pick N'Keal Harry will be available. Ever since Harry hobbled off the field in the Aug. 8 preseason opener, he hasn't practiced in full. And in the limited time that reporters have been present at practice — basically for a light jogging session — the rookie receiver hasn't passed the eye test in terms of looking comfortable.”

To be clear, this isn't an official word by any means. This is simply an educated guess based on Harry's unavailability recently.

It's a fair guess, though. Harry not practicing in full since the August 8 preseason opener is pretty telling. At this point, even if he did return fully before the start of the regular season, the team might want to give him another week of practice to prepare.

Whatever the case though, the excitement for N'Keal Harry should be high. Listed at 6'4″, 225 pounds, he's a mammoth target. He's also uber-athletic and will get to a lot of balls that Tom Brady throws in his direction.

The fact that he might not be ready for Week 1 shouldn't hamper the excitement at all, if anything it will only make his eventual debut that much more exciting.

For now, the New England Patriots have enough targets to not need to rely on a rookie in week 1 of the regular season. Believe it or not, the defending Super Bowl champions probably aren't too worried.
