The New England Patriots completed their mission to get back in the win column after taking down the Miami Dolphins at home, 38-7. However, their victory appears to have come at a cost, as tight end Rob Gronkowski hurt his ankle in the game, forcing him to leave the contest early, per Adam Schefter of ESPN.

As it turned out, Gronkowski wasn’t able to get back on the field, a decision that might have also been influenced by the blowout nature of the contest. In any case, Gronk’s injury is still a point of concern for the Patriots, who coaxed 44 receiving yards from the hulking tight end against Miami.

Gronkowski’s availability for the tilt with the Dolphins had been in question throughout last week because of an ankle issue. He was limited in team practices, but the nine-year veteran ultimately got a green light to see action in Week 4 – a decision that the Patriots might be regretting.

The Pats are on a short week, as they will face the Indianapolis Colts at home this coming Thursday. That means fewer days for Rob Gronkowski to rest and recover. For now, he could be considered questionable to play against the Colts.

Should Gronkowski miss the Colts game, Chris Hogan, Josh Gordon, and Phillip Dorsett could see increased workloads down the field while tight end Dwayne Allen can expect an uptick in his snap count.
