Following the New England Patriots loss in Super Bowl 52 to the Philadelphia Eagles, there was chatter concerning Pro Bowl tight end Rob Gronkowski contemplating retirement.
Gronkowski has since returned to the fold but that had elicited some dialogue toward a possible reworking of his current contract that he has two years left on his six-year, $54 million deal. Despite that discussion taking the backburners over the last several weeks, the 29-year-old did acknowledge that he does want something worked out but isn't dwelling on the matter, Josh Alper of Pro Football Talk.

There hasn't been much chatter on Gronkowski's end of things concerning the situation, but it is something that he wants to get done at some point in time in the future. He has been a huge factor in the offense since entering the league in 2010 with the Patriots developing into Tom Brady's most relied upon target in the passing game.
Despite injuries playing a part in the last few seasons, he has maintained a high level of play throughout his career that helped establish him as arguably the best tight end in the league. He is coming off a campaign where he led the Patriots with 69 receptions, 1,084 receiving yards, and eight touchdowns that earned him a Pro Bowl selection and a First-Team All-Pro nod. It marked his fourth 1,000-receiving yard season and third over the last four years along, as well as his sixth season with at least eight touchdown receptions.
This is something that the Patriots have moved on from at the moment, but it is a matter that will be addressed at some point in time down the road.
