Tom Brady will go down as arguably the greatest quarterback ever and the best one to ever play for the New England Patriots. After all, he led them to six Super Bowl titles during his tenure with the team.
Brady ultimately left the Patriots last summer to join the Tampa Bay Buccaneers and led them to a championship in his very first year. But, it appears his relationship with New England ended way before he actually left, according to a revealing book on the franchise. Via ESPN:

Tom Brady spent a total of 19 seasons with the Patriots and basically, everything revolved around him. After all, he was the signal caller and the reason they had so much success. But, Belichick telling the organization that every decision they make is to please TB12 probably wasn't the best idea.
Nevertheless, the Patriots enjoyed the utmost success and even though Brady is no longer with the team, those rings will always be there.
“Brady was tired of taking team-friendly deals with no input into how the money saved was spent — and still wanted a long-term contractual commitment,” Wickersham writes. “Belichick told associates that every organizational decision now was in support of Brady, geared toward pleasing him and making him successful — and that Kraft meddled with the team, sometimes with opinions, sometimes with restrictive budgets.
The strain within the Patriots had been coming for years, the book says. At one point years earlier, if there was an NFL franchise in Los Angeles, Brady might have tried to force a trade there, according to those close to him.
“Kraft sometimes groaned to confidants that Belichick didn't show him the respect he deserved, but he was in no rush for life after him,” Wickersham writes. “Brady, though, seemed ready for it. … ‘I don't want to play for Bill and the Patriots anymore,' he told people close to him in 2017.”
