Rob Gronkowski loves the No. 69. If it was up to the hulking New England Patriots tight end, everything in his life will be governed and revolve around that number. That is not going to happen all the time because Gronk does not have full control of his environment, but in some occasions that he does, expect him to make a considerable effort to line himself up to that figure no matter how random it looks.

Take for example this piece of information from ESPN’s Field Yates, who discovered that Rob Gronkowski will have exactly 69 members of the Gronkowski clan descending to Minnesota this weekend to watch the Super Bowl LII live.

If this was another player, we would have easily dismissed this as something that’s coincidental. Stephen Gostkowski could have promised to kick a 69-yard field goal in the Super Bowl, but it will not have the same entertainment value as that of Gronk actually paying close attention to the headcount of his relatives he will be inviting to the biggest pro sports spectacle of the year.

While we are on the subject, let us all be reminded that Gronkowski finished with 69, yes 6-9, catches back in the regular season for 1,084 yards and eight touchdowns in 14 games.

Despite his fondness for the number, Gronk, who has been cleared to play this coming Sunday against the Philadelphia Eagles, surely would not mind getting more yards in the Super Bowl even if he already had exactly 69 yards at any point of the game.
