The New York Giants have continued to stumble out of the gate to the 2018 season dropping five out of their first six games played that put their playoff hopes in deep peril.

It has also seen star wide receiver Odell Beckham Jr. become more vocal about his frustrations concerning those struggles that have led even more chatter around the franchise. With that in mind, former NFL wideout Reggie Wayne has stated that he believes the Giants may be regretting giving Beckham Jr. a new lucrative extension.

“I honestly I think the Giants are somewhat regretting paying OBJ all this money even though they know what they were getting into. They were hoping let's go ahead and pay him and now let's play football. Now they have built a monster and you paid him a lot of money.”

The Giants are just a few weeks removed from giving him a record-breaking five-year, $90 million deal with $65 million in guaranteed money. This has locked him into the fold for the next six seasons that runs through the 2023 campaign earning more than $13 million in each campaign following this year.

New York has found themselves in a troubling situation that has them once again well out of the playoff picture for the second consecutive season. Much of this has centered on their lack of offensive production.

The Giants currently rank 28th in the league with 19.8 points per game while holding the 17th-best passing attack while posting less than 20 four times this year. However, Beckham Jr. has been one of the few bright spots as he has 45 catches for 506 receiving yards and touchdown through the first six games played.

This has put the team in a tough spot as there is no denying that the 25-year-old is a phenomenal talent but his vocal outburst and comments have put an even more negative spotlight on the team. Ultimately, it is a situation that will have to sort itself out over the rest of the 2018 season as the Giants look to get back into the playoff picture and turn things around.
