The draft stock of Mississippi State defensive end Montez Sweat may not be affected by his heart condition after all. Gil Brandt of NFL. com reported on Tuesday that has he spoken to multiple NFL decision-makers who would give the 22-year-old a passing physical. Brandt also noted that Sweat also won't be called back to Indianapolis for further medical evaluation after doctors spent extra time with him at the NFL Combine earlier this month.

News of Sweat's heart condition first surfaced over the weekend. His condition wasn't previously known to talent evaluators until medical personnel in Indianapolis “took a thorough look” at the 6-foot-6, 260-pounder, causing some to speculate that he could slide on draft night.

Sweat's agents immediately pushed back on the report, insisting nothing has changed regarding their client's medical status.

“Because of privacy issues we are not allowed to comment specifically,” they said in statement to NFL.com. “But I will tell you that this is not news. Montez is the same person that was medically cleared to play and dominate the SEC, the Senior Bowl, and the NFL combine. No change in health and no change in domination!”

Montez Sweat was arguably the top performer among all players who took part in athletic testing in Indianapolis. He blazed to a mind-boggling 4.41 40-yard dash, easily tops among all defensive linemen. He also posted elite marks in the vertical jump and broad jump, continuing an ascent up draft boards that began at the Senior Bowl.

During his last season with the Bulldogs, Sweat was named a First Team All-American after posting 12 sacks and 14.5 tackles for loss.
