Sometimes there are unfortunate events that happen during the NFL Combine. That holds true for Kendall Sheffield, as he tore his pectoral muscle while he was doing the bench press.

This news is confirmed by Kimberly Jones of NFL Network. It's unfortunate to see this happen to anybody—especially to someone like Sheffield who could really use the combine to make a name for himself.

The athletic cornerback was seen in a sling after the injury occurred. He remained with the defensive backs to cheer on his fellow position mates—showing good sportsmanship.

Most people believed that Sheffield had a chance to run the fastest 40-yard dash time at the NFL Combine this year. Of course, Sheffield will be unable to run a 40-yard dash due to his pectoral injury.

So far, the fastest 40-yard dash time belongs to Zedrick Woods from Ole Miss. He clocked in at a 4.29—surpassing Jamal Dean who ran a 4.30 today.

Fortunately, Sheffield will not require surgery and many people believe he will be ready for the beginning of the 2019 NFL season.

Sheffield isn't expected to be a top pick in this year's draft which is why it hurts to see him suffer an injury. Player's stocks rise and fall during the week of the combine.

Sheffield played two seasons at Ohio State where he had 75 tackles, two interceptions, and 15 pass deflections. The talent is there but he is a really raw prospect.

The former Buckeyes cornerback actually committed to Alabama before winding up at Ohio State for his last two seasons.

His athleticism for a six-foot cornerback makes him a very intriguing prospect.

Hopefully, Sheffield's stock doesn't take a hit due to an unlucky incident.
