The city of San Antonio is putting together a pitch to try and convince the NFL to come to their city for the NFL draft. San Antonio Mayor Ron Nirenberg told KSAT he believes the city has proven they can pull off big-time sporting events, and that the NFL should really take a close look at what they could bring to the NFL draft.
“We are a destination city. We pull off major sporting events better than any city in the country and that has been on display for a long time,” said Nirenberg. “With the recent success of the AAF and Final Four and so forth, it makes sense.”
San Antonio doesn't have an NFL franchise, but Mayor Nirenberg doesn't think that should disqualify them for consideration because of how well they have hosted the major events.

Las Vegas will host the 2020 draft and Cleveland will host in 2021. There hasn't been an announcement made for 2022, but Kansas City will host in 2023.
Nirenberg didn't say exactly what year the city was targeting, but if it's not 2022, it will have to wait until at least 2024.
“We’re examining the process, putting together a proposal. Nothing formally yet,” said Nirenberg. “But again as a concept, there’s not a better city in the world to host for the NFL draft than San Antonio.”
It will be interesting to see if their attempts result in landing the big event.
