Before the last NFL season, Jay Cutler had a job lined up with Fox to be an NFL broadcaster, but then the Miami Dolphins came calling. He decided to put the broadcasting job to the side, at least for one year, to play one more year in the NFL.

Now that the year is over and it's unlikely that he will play in the NFL next year, the expectation was that he would return to the booth. By way of recent comments, however, that sounds unlikely.

Cutler's wife Kristin Cavallari has her very own show, “Very Cavallari,” on the E! Network, and from the comments he made on Sunday night's episode, it sounds like Cutler is ready to just be away from the game altogether.

“I’m not looking to do a lot of work right now,” Cutler said via Pro Football Talk. “I’m looking to do the exact opposite of that.”

There is a chance that another major injury could happen to a quarterback during training camp and Cutler could be talked back into an NFL job, but that seems unlikely, and hearing his voice in a booth this fall also seems out of the question.

Cutler has been popular on the new show because of how uncomfortable he looks in front of the camera, which makes the broadcasting even more confusing.

Cutler didn't showcase many spectacular interviews during his career and they haven't gotten much better in the new show. FOX must have seen something in him last year that'd translate well to the football booth, but it remains to be seen.
