The NFL Combine is underway and some of the prospects are turning heads with their deadly speed. So much so, they've even caught the eye of Patrick Mahomes. Nearly every prospect goes through the combine, but this year's wide receiver class is putting on a clinic in the 40-yard dash.

On Thursday, Patrick Mahomes sent a hilarious tweet reacting to the ridiculous 40-yard dash times. After Chris Olave surprisingly ran it in 4.26 seconds, Tyquan Thornton broke the record with 4.21 seconds. Apparently, the NFL is about to absorb a ton of speed in the upcoming draft.

These receivers are running so fast, that this year's NFL Combine has officially become the fastest wide receiver class in history, per Tim Twentyman. What's insane about this stat, is that Jameson Williams isn't running due to an injury and many view him as one of the fastest prospects entering the league. The question has to be asked, what are they feeding these kids?

The NFL is stacked with a ton of talent, as the last few drafts have been incredibly loaded. Any franchise in need of some speed should be able to find it this year. As for Patrick Mahomes, maybe he should practice his sprints more to keep up with the incoming rookie class. Either way, here is Tyquan Thornton breaking the record.

Although we're witnessing breaking speeds at the NFL Combine, it doesn't necessarily mean it'll translate to the professional level. In fact, of all of the speed demons throughout the years, former Tennessee Titans running back Chris Johnson formed a respectable career (sorry for being a Debby Downer).

We'll see how this rookie class adjusts at the NFL level, as they're rising up draft boards due to their pure speed. Maybe the Kansas City Chiefs will select one of these prospects to complement Tyreek Hill? Kansas City fans can only dream right now.
