When Dwayne Haskins had his stellar season with the Ohio State last season, the general consensus believed in his talent but pegged him as a project. Cool. The general consensus also believed he was still worth a first-round selection. Even better.
But Haskins has been thrust into a situation that he isn't ready for. Whether the Redskins wants him there or not, they still understand he only started one year at Ohio State. And obviously, it's been showing.
So much so that it appeared that starting Redskins running back Adrian Peterson began to grow impatient with Haskins.
On the NFL morning show Good Morning Football, the anchors discussed the alleged report that Peterson wants Haskins to take a better dive into their playoff. Peterson would respond via Twitter.
If you didn’t hear something direct from me, please don’t attribute it to me. I believe in Dwayne and his potential. With more time, support & commitment, he can grown like any other rookie player. #HTTR https://t.co/ABIFmfnfzg

Haskins also caught wind of the tweet, and responded to Peterson in an interesting way.

Of course, there are many angles to look at this. One way to look is just Haskins giving a general response on a social media platform. Another way is to ask why didn't Haskins just talk to Peterson in the locker room about it all?
On top of that, emotional response from a young player that he will probably look back on and say he handled it inappropriately. Whichever way to lean, it's pretty clear Haskins is tired of the media narrative that's established about him.
Haskins is still young, but he knows he has to work harder to be successful in the NFL. This is what the Redskins, media, and fans expected from Haskins in his first year, so it's no sweat in the end.
