The Washington Redskins are going to be without defensive end Jonathan Allen on Sunday when they take on the Dallas Cowboys.

Allen suffered an MCL sprain during the teams Week 1 game against the Philadelphia Eagles after playing just seven snaps. This isn't expected to be a long term injury, but he could still miss a couple of weeks with the injury.

Allen was a first-round pick in 2017 and this is a big blow to a team that is already shorthanded. On offense, Trent Williams still hasn't reported to the team, and running back Darius Guice is going to miss a big chunk of time after having knee surgery to repair his right meniscus.

With Guice out the team will have to lean on Adrian Peterson who was inactive in Week 1. Peterson admitted it was tough not being active, but is ready to help the team now.

“You're at an all-time high leading up and then you're at an all-time low, not really understanding and climbing and getting back up here,” Peterson said via ESPN.  “I'm a professional. I've been through way worse than not being [active] for Week 1 through my life.

“Sunday being out there was tough, and I was in a totally different mindset. But … it's not like it was three or four weeks where I was doing practice-squad things and not really being involved. It was just a week off, pretty much.”

The Redskins are going to have their hands full against the Cowboys and they can't afford to have anyone else ruled out.
