The Washington Redskins are going to be losing Ereck Flowers in free agency. But they are keeping one of their defensive starters.

According to NFL Network's Ian Rapoport, Washington has re-signed Jon Bostic to a two-year, $6.6 million contract.

Last offseason, the Redskins signed Bostic after he spent the 2018 season with the Pittsburgh Steelers. Little did they know that Bostic would immediately become a key contributor to their defense.

In his lone season in Washington, Bostic was able to record a career-high 105 tackles, one sack, and one interception. Above all, he started in all 16 games for the first time in his six-year career in the NFL.

In the event that the Redskins didn't re-sign Bostic, he likely would've seen a decent market in free agency. However, Washington is preventing the veteran linebacker from playing elsewhere next season.

With Bostic now off of the board, the inside linebacker market is getting thinned out pretty quickly. Besides Bostic, Christian Kirksey and Nick Kwiatkoski have already agreed upon deals during the legal tampering period.

Of course, everyone is keeping their eyes on where Cory Littleton, Joe Schobert, and Blake Martinez are headed in free agency. While he isn't a top-tier linebacker, Bostic was a fantastic addition for the Redskins in 2019.

Ron Rivera is focused on keeping some continuity on the defense. Therefore, keeping Bostic on a team-friendly deal could be a beneficial move for the Redskins defense.

After re-signing Bostic, Washington will undoubtedly look to bolster their defense even more for next season.
