There were not many that gave the Philadelphia Eagles a chance to beat the New England Patriots in Super Bowl LII. Not even the creators of ‘Tom vs. Time'.

Quarterback Tom Brady announced he would be releasing a documentary series that will provide fans with a behind-the-scenes look at his mission to beat Father Time. Unfortunately, it hit a snag after he and the Patriots were unable to beat the Eagles.

As a result, director Gotham Chopra posted a statement on Facebook saying the team will now have to come up with a different approach to the sixth episode:

Everyone keeps asking me about Chapter 6 of ‘Tom vs. Time' and when it's going to be ready. The truth is we had a plan, but unconsciously, it was tied to the Pats winning the Super Bowl and, when that didn't happen (congrats, Eagles!), I felt like we needed to pause and recalibrate. While we have amazing stuff from the playoff run, Tom's hand injury and the great comeback in the AFC Championship, once the Super Bowl played out, I started to wonder the relevance of all that other stuff and determined that we really needed one final exit interview with our guy before we could figure out what Chapter 6 was truly going to be about. This morning, we did that interview. It ran over an hour and we talked about a lot of things. I'm not gonna give anything away … but for curious minds, Tom was both reflective and upbeat, very present and disappointed in last Sunday's loss, while also gracious toward the Eagles for their impressive victory and already unpacking everything to find a lesson in it. As a fan, I can say I got some great closure and I hope Tom did too in just talking about it. I can tell he's burning up still on the inside. But I am also reminded why the guy is the GOAT and it's all gonna be OK. So, Chapter 6 — ‘Coming Soon!'”

This is just another way the Eagles managed to spoil a historic year for the Patriots. Obviously, a lot of effort went into shooting an entire episode on the basis that New England would win the Super Bowl. In all fairness, Chopra's crew had good reason to do so.

The Patriots had been the heavy favorites going against an Eagles team that was used to being the underdogs throughout the playoffs. Furthermore, the prospect of Brady and head coach Bill Belichick making history together was too good of a storyline not to follow. Unfortunately, things did not pan out the way the script had been written up.

Despite being arguably the greatest quarterback in NFL history, Brady has always been one of the league's most enigmatic players, which is why it came as a bit of a surprise to see him willing to give such in-depth look into his life. That said, production has plenty of work to do after initially preparing to add a fairytale ending to Brady's 2017 NFL season. Instead, it will likely be geared towards the Patriots rebuild and navigating through all the noise that seems to follow them every year.
