Philadelphia Eagles quarterback Nick Foles is in a unique position about his future, and Chris Long feels as though he needs to have more say in what's to come anyway.
The defensive end stopped by PFT Live to share his thoughts on the situation and seemed to defend Foles' decision to void his contract with the Eagles.
“Nick deserves the opportunity for input. I think it’s one of those unique situations where, you know, a lot of the times it is a business but this guy, undoubtedly. . . . I mean, they built a statue for him outside of the stadium. You don’t send him somewhere he doesn’t want to be or put him somewhere against his will. I think finding that sweet spot where he has some input and the team wins too if that’s the situation, I think everyone would respect that.”
As fans of the sport already know, the former MVP and Super Bowl-winning quarterback decided to void out his contract with the Eagles after they'd announced that they wanted to exercise their 2019 option with him.
One would think that Foles would have a bit more freedom to move around, especially since he's delivered a Super Bowl win to the team, but that's not entirely accurate. That said, he could get a lot more money on the open market, especially since the Jaguars have expressed interest in him (as we'd previously reported).
For Nick Foles to have voided out his contract, however, he spent $2 million to do so, so here's hoping that this move is ultimately worth it to him.
