It's been a tough game for the Philadelphia Eagles as they've struggled against the Las Vegas Raiders. Miles Sanders fell to injury early on and has been ruled out, per Dov Kleiman. It's not an ideal situation, as this franchise can't catch a break at the moment.

Since the injury, Philadelphia has failed to move the ball down the field consistently. They're allowing the Raiders to control the game completely. Even so, if Sanders was still in the game, it's unclear whether or not he'd be a factor. It's been a terrible season so far the Eagles starting running back, but it's not necessarily his fault.

His yards per carry average is phenomenal right now, but Miles Sanders has been receiving limited opportunities. For whatever reason, the coaching staff refuses to utilize their talented running back. Now, it might be too late as Sanders is sidelined with an injury and won't return to the Week 7 matchup against the Raiders.

It looked like a serious injury, as Sanders was carted off the field. Typically that's not a good sign, especially since the pain is in his ankle. Hopefully, he's alright and recovers quickly, but right now, it seems the Eagles will be without their starting running back for some time.

If that's the case, rookie Kenneth Gainwell will receive an expanded role. He's actually looked good with his limited opportunities as well, as he has the potential to be a legitimate satellite back in the NFL. We'll see what happens, but Philadelphia fans should prepare themselves to see Gainwell lined up in the backfield in Week 8.

The way things are going, the 2021 NFL season looks bleak for the Eagles. They don't look like a playoff-caliber team. Even so, this is a great opportunity to allow the younger players receive a heavier workload while Miles Sanders rests his ankle.
