The Philadelphia Eagles are undergoing some changes in their secondary, but they are bringing back one of their starters in 2020. According to NFL Network's Ian Rapoport, the Eagles are signing back Rodney McLeod in wake of the departure of Malcolm Jenkins.

On Tuesday afternoon, the Eagles chose not to pick up Jenkins' option for the 2020 season. As a result, Jenkins will become an unrestricted free agent and is able to sign with a team of his choosing.

While Jenkins looks to find a new home, McLeod is remaining in Philadelphia for another two years. Even though the specifics of his contract haven't been revealed, the Eagles keep one of their starters for the foreseeable future.

Back in 2016, McLeod joined the Eagles on a five-year, $35 million deal after a four-year stint with the Los Angeles (then St. Louis) Rams. Since joining Philadelphia's defense, McLeod has served as the team's free safety alongside Jenkins.

In his four seasons with the Eagles, McLeod has been a key contributor on the backend of the defense. The Virginia product has accumulated 23 deflections and eight interceptions with Philadelphia. Additionally, McLeod was part of the roster that was able to secure Philadelphia's first Super Bowl in 2017.

The decision to sign McLeod for two years and let Jenkins walk in free agency is an interesting one. Plus, the Eagles are signing Jalen Mills to a one-year deal and he could be moved to safety next season. Nevertheless, it appears McLeod and Mills could be Philadelphia's safety tandem in 2020.
