With training camp only weeks away, the Seattle Seahawks will continue to find ways to bolster their roster via trade or free agency. Both sides of the trenches have to be the team's weakest link, so with that being said, here are three trade candidates that must be heavily considered.
Greg Little, Offensive Tackle
A former offensive tackle from Ole Miss, Greg Little was selected in the second round by the Carolina Panthers in the 2019 NFL Draft. When looking at some of his game tape from his college heydays, potential can be seen. He has the perfect measurements for a tackle. He fares better in run-heavy schemes, but can still block decently in passing situations.
Ultimately, athleticism is the name of his game. Little can bend his body and move his feet quite nicely. However, he still has much to improve upon in terms of pass blocking and body control. During his time with the Panthers, becoming a starter has been a difficult challenge. With only six games as a starter due to injury, he does not have the experience one would want in a three-year pro.
At only 23 years old, Seattle can for sure go all in on a player of his caliber. The most he is worth as of right now would be a third-round pick.
Billy Price, Center
The former center from Ohio State, Billy Price was selected in the first round by the Cincinnati Bengals in the 2018 NFL Draft. While Greg Little has lacked starting experience, Price has a bit more (19 total starts in three seasons. Still not as good, but good enough, right?)
Alas, his multitude of starts can't make up for how big of a letdown he has been for the Bengals (blame it on injuries). After being denied a fifth-year option, he could easily see his way off the roster. There is still a chance for him to start somewhere else, though.
Enter the Seahawks.
While he still has some facets of the game to work on (pass blocking, footwork and patience), versatility is something that should not be dismissed. Given that the organization needs someone to cover all three positions on the interior, a trade for the Bengals center would be a definite upgrade. On top of that, his price wouldn't be too up there. His value would be a late-round pick and a swap of picks.
Marcus Davenport, Defensive End
Marcus Davenport is the most intriguing player the former division champs should take a look at. Hailing from UTSA, he was selected in the first round by the New Orlean Saints in the 2018 NFL Draft. While the other two players above haven't proven themselves on the field, Davenport has fared better.
As a rotational piece who's part of the Saints' front seven, he has notched a total of 12 sacks, four forced fumbles and four pass deflections in three years. While those stats may sound mediocre to many NFL aficionados, he has yet to play a full season and has some stingy competition.
With that being said, a change of scenery may just light the fire under the former first-rounder. Only 24 years old, he has to reach his peak potential. If the Seahawks go all in on a young player, it should be this guy. Without a shadow of a doubt. An exchange of picks and a Day 2 pick may satisfy the Saints enough to let go of the youngster.
***
After the fiasco with all the Russell Wilson rumors, the Seahawks cannot let the star QB walk. They are in a win-now mode and must satisfy Wilson in any possible way. Focusing on the trenches, especially the offensive line, would definitely keep him happy and improve the team in a big way. GM John Schneider's job has gotten a whole lot tougher, but he's up for the challenge.
